down by the river
3 03 2007
Today the lad and I went for a walk down by the river, well I say river it’s called Bottesford beck. I wanted to check out what early spring edibles could be found and the lad wanted an excuse to get dirty so off we went.
From the council estate where I live it’s about a fifteen minute walk, to the beck and when you are there you feel as if you are in the middle nowhere.

Here we see a tiny hobbit emerging from his hobbit hole.

This is a mobile phone mast disguised as a tree? I still can’t figure out if it works or not?

Crab apples left over from last year, but a little close to dog walking routes for me.

These are or will be hops in the summer. I wanted to take some of these dried stalks as they look great but I’ll need a lift.

A few haw berries left that the birds must have missed.

In Scunthorpe the view of the steel works is never far away.
